Sky News host Chris Kenny has expressed shock over revelations that households are being charged more than businesses to use the same amount of electricity.

The latest analysis from The Australia Institute has revealed that families are paying $1,000 a year more than big businesses to use the same amount of electricity.

This comes as households are already struggling with other cost-of-living pressures.

Mr Kenny questioned why power companies would charge families more than businesses.

“This is astonishing,” he said.

“Why would domestic consumers be ripped off compared to businesses?”
