Anthony Albanese touches down in China

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has touched down in Shanghai kicking off his four-day tour in China.

Political Editor Andrew Clennell said he was greeted by the Vice Mayor of Shanghai and the Chinese Ambassador to Australia.

The language being used by Australian officials about this trip is all about “stabilisation of the relationship” between the two countries, Mr Clennell said.

“Not a return to the environment of that last Prime Ministerial visit by Malcolm Turnbull in 2016.

“Monday evening, Australian time, the PM will hold his second bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.”
