Eric Melvin details many of the woes that have befallen Scotland (Letters, 26 August). His barbs at Gordon Brown are well aimed, though he neglects to raise one of Mr Brown's worst acts; namely the destruction of the highly successful pension industry and the damage done to many people's personal pensions.
