Who is popular today?

THE Opposition UNC is still to decide who will chair the seven local government corporations it retained in Monday's local government elections. The PNM is already moving to change the people who led the seven corporations it controls.
The elections ended in a 7-7 tie the between the PNM and UNC.
The PNM retained the San Fernando City, Port of Spain City, Diego Martin Borough, Tunapuna/Piarco Regional, Point Fortin Borough, Arima Borough and San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporations.
The UNC retained the Sangre Grande Regional, Chaguanas Borough, Penal/Debe Regional, Siparia Borough, Princes Town Regional, Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional, Rio Claro/ Mayaro Regional Corporations.
From 2019 to Monday's elections, the UNC-controlled corporations were respectively chaired by Anil Juteram, Faiq Mohammed, Dr Allen Sammy, Gowrie Roopnarine, Henry Awong and Raymond Cozier.
Party officials said no decision had been taken as to who would chair UNC corporations.
They said that decision rested with UNC political leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
The PNM, however, has moved to change the leadership at the helm of all of its corporations.
Pleasantville councillor Robert Parris will replace Junia Regrello as San Fernando mayor.
Parris has represented Pleasantville for the last 13 years.
San Fernando's deputy mayor will be alderman Dr Ferri Hosein.
Outgoing Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC) chairman Kwasi Robinson was pleased with councillor Josiah Austin taking over from him.
"The party has made excellent choices at all regional corporations and especially TPRC."
Robinson was confident that Austin would bring his undeniable charisma and diligent work ethic to serve all the burgesses of the TPRC.
"Tunapuna is love."
Chinua Alleyne has been tipped to replace Joel Martinez as Port of Spain mayor.
He is the nephew of former prime minister Patrick Manning (deceased).
Alderman Akeilah Glasgow replaces Sigler Jack as Diego Martin Borough Corporation chairman.
Clyde James replaces Saleema Mcree-Thomas as Point Fortin mayor.
Richard Walcott replaces Anthony Roberts as San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation chairman
Businessman Balliram Maharaj is tipped to be Arima mayor. He replaces Cagney Cassimire
