Sky News host Chris Kenny says politicians in Canberra are “ramping up” the push for nuclear power as parliamentary friends of nuclear stage a special forum in Parliament House today and tomorrow.

Nationals MP Dr David Gillespie spoke to Sky News host Chris Kenny about their plans for reliable nuclear power in Australia.

“Looking at the 2050 plan, one of our economists analysed that to achieve their step-change plan by 2050, will cost $1.27 trillion dollars” Dr Gillespie told Mr Kenny.

“It’s cheap, it’s reliable, it’s safe, and this new wave of interest in the small modular reactors is just going to accelerate.

“We really need to start getting our regulatory situation in place, remove the prohibition so we can get accurate costs for Australia.”
