Vic Premier refuses to reveal Suburban Rail Loop cost

over 1 year in news

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has refused to reveal how much the Suburban Rail Loop will cost taxpayers as the Parliamentary Budget Office predicts the first two stages of the project will cost close to $125 billion.

“You’ve got to invest in the very best public transport network," Mr Andrews said during the Sky News-Herald Sun People's Forum debate.

"Otherwise, very soon, you cancel the Suburban Rail Loop, you're kind of cancelling the suburbs as we know it.

"It’s not about whether you can afford to do it; it's whether you can afford not to do it."
