Liz Truss ‘Lettuce’ Projected Onto Westminster Palace

over 1 year in news

The image of a head of lettuce in a blond wig was beamed onto the walls of the Palace of Westminster in London hours after UK prime minister Liz Truss announced her resignation on October 20. UK news outlet The Daily Star had been live-streaming a lettuce for a week to see if it would last longer than Liz Truss’s prime ministership. In a series of tweets, The Daily Star labeled their head of lettuce “victorious in the battle of the year.” Truss made the announcement at Downing Street earlier on Thursday, following a meeting with Graham Brady, the chairman of the 1922 Committee of Conservative MPs. Truss said she would remain on as prime minister until her successor was chosen. The leadership election was scheduled to be completed within the next week. Credit: Visit London via Storyful
