Sky News host Cory Bernardi says there has been controversy in the world of professional chess playing after a cheating scandal erupted.

“An American teenager, Hans Niemann, snapped the 53-game winning streak of the world champion – maybe the greatest chess player ever – Magnus Carlsen,” he said.

“Accusations of cheating have marred the whole thing and Carlsen now resigned in protest from a rematch with the teenager after just a single move.

“Who knew there was so much drama in the sport of chess?”

He discussed the issue with Australian Chess Federation’s Paul Power.
