Bulk billing may be on the verge of collapse

Sky News host Jenna Clarke says doctors are warning bulk billing may be on the verge of collapse.

The Australian newspaper is reporting the collapse may occur in general practice as clinics have been forced to charge “gap fees” to patients to avoid economic turmoil.

“This sort of flies in the face of exactly what Adam Bandt and the Greens are talking about when it comes to, you know, we need to put dental in Medicare – which would be fantastic,” she said.

“But the fact that bulk billing is now being wrapped up at a number of private clinics is quite terrifying in this nation.”
