The UK Conservative Party has taken two losses in by-elections overnight, but Prime Minister Boris Johnson says his party “must respond' to the results.

Mr Johnson said people send messages to politicians when they are finding it tough.

“Politicians have got to respond,” he said.

“And that’s what were doing.”
