OPENER JOHN Campbell scored an unbeaten 58 as the West Indies completed a seven-wicket victory, less than an hour into the fourth day, in the first Test against Bangladesh at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua on Sunday.
In pursuit of a victory target of 84, the West Indies resumed play on 49 runs for the loss of three wickets, with Campbell not out on 28 and team vice-captain Jermaine Blackwood on 17.
Campbell swept part-time off-spinner Najmul Shanto for a four, then struck him over long-off for a six to secure the win for the hosts. Campbell's knock, off 67 balls, included nine fours and a six. Blackwood finished not out on 26 (53 balls, two fours).
West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach, who took seven wickets overall, was named as the Man of the Match.
The second and final Test in the series will be staged at the Darren Sammy Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia from June 24-28.
