Eve wants more 'synergy' from Soca Warriors in Bahamas match

TRINIDAD and Tobago senior football coach Angus Eve has made changes to the squad in an effort to have more cohesion in their Concacaf Nations League clash against the Bahamas at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo from 8 pm, on Monday.
TT are aiming to bounce back after losing 2-1 to Nicaragua on Friday in Group C of League B of the 2022/2023 Nations League at the National Football Stadium in Managua, Nicaragua.
Eve, speaking to the media before a training session at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Sunday, said a few players have been brought back into the squad.
“I thought that we did not have a lot of cohesion in the first match, we looked a little bit disjointed so I went back to a lot of the players who we had in the classic,” Eve said.
TT, Barbados and Guyana played in a tri-nation series called the Courts Caribbean Classic in March in Trinidad.
“I think they understood the way I want to play a little bit more than some of the guys who just came in. It is not because of any injuries or anything (why we made changes), but also we tried to freshen up the team as much as possible because we need to play a more attacking game in this game.”
Reon Moore, Nicholas Dillon, Duane Muckette, Alvin Jones, Neveal Hackshaw and Noah Powder have joined the team.
Among the players overlooked are Joevin Jones, Triston Hodge, Mekeil Williams, Marcus Joseph and Justin Sadoo.
Real Gill and Kaihim Thomas are now with the national Under-20 squad.
Discussing the omission of Joevin, Eve said, “I don’t think Joevin is up to speed. He has not played much with his club and I think he was just off the pace a bit. It is nothing major, it is just he was off the pace and he is coming back gradually. After looking at him the other day he probably needs a little bit more match practise under his belt before he plays a full competitive match.”
Speaking more about the team’s performance against Nicaragua, Eve said, “I think we were not compact defensively (and) I think that offensively we set up the team, as Reynold said, to keep the game close in the first half. We did that and then we wanted to put on some of the more expressive players that we have in the team in the second half.”
Eve expects more “synergy” against the Bahamas.
