‘Great day for free speech’ Piers Morgan praises Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter

Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan says Twitter’s ban on Donald Trump “seems so absurd” given Russian President Vladimir Putin is still allowed an account on the service.

Mr Morgan said Trump’s “saviour” may soon come in the form of “maverick” Elon Musk.

It comes as the tech billionaire has finalised a deal to buy social media giant Twitter for $US44 billion – with Mr Musk previously declaring himself a “free speech absolutist”.

Mr Morgan said Musk is a “ferocious defender of free speech”.

“And he thinks wokeism is a mind-virus and the greatest threat to modern civilisation,” Mr Morgan said.

“Little wonder then that I rather like the guy.

“It’s a great day for free speech and a very bad day for snowflake woke celebrities who are so petrified by free speech online that some of them are even quitting Twitter because of Musk.”
