Sky News host Paul Murray has thanked those Australians who served their country in war.

"Thank you to every person who has served this country. Thank you for your sacrifice, for your service," Mr Murray said.

"On this day, of course, we remember the more than 110,000 Australians who have lost their life in war, and we never forget the reason why we fight for what's right.

"Whether you were at a formal minute's silent or just observed one while watching the footy this afternoon, I hope you took a moment to savour the sacrifices."
