Sky News host Paul Murray says Shadow Energy Minister Chris Bowen’s promise of low power prices “won’t happen” due to the rising price of coal.

“If the retail price goes up, then your power bills go up,” Mr Murray said.

“Conversely if you got rid of coal tomorrow, your power bills would go up by almost $500 a year because the electricity companies would need to pay off all the wind farms they are importing from - let’s say it together - China.”
