‘Fun to watch’ the White House ‘squirm’ at suggestions of Kamala Harris’ unpopularity

Sky News host Paul Murray says it was fun to watch the White House "squirm" at suggestions Joe Biden was going to get Kamala Harris "out of the way" by nominating her to the Supreme Court.

"What's interesting here, is that Joe Biden has said, even before he was the nominee at the Democratic Party, let alone now the President, that he was going to pick a woman of colour to become the next Supreme Court justice," Mr Murray said.

"He's made it very clear that one of his favourite women of colour is, of course, the former Attorney General of California."

Mr Murray said this, as well as Kamala Harris' unpopularity, aroused speculation she would be nominated for the role.

"A couple of problems - she was never actually a judge, she was a publicly elected attorney general of the state of California, so kind of the legal thing - you might need a slightly higher bar."

He also said she would need to obtain 51 votes in the US Senate and the only way she could do this is by voting for herself.

"But it was still fun to watch the White House squirm at the mere suggestion that Kamala Harris is now so unpopular as his number two, that let's get her out of the way and give her a job for life as the justice of the Supreme Court."
