There’s been a ‘bit of a mixed response’ to Morrison at COP26

There has been a “bit of a mixed response” to Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s net zero by 2050 pitch in Glasgow, according to The West Australian's Federal Political Reporter Sarah Ison.

The Australian is reporting Mr Morrison has warned “those who can afford it the least” will be impacted if transition to net zero emissions is handled incorrectly as he promoted his “technology, not taxes approach” at the COP26 summit.

“I think a lot of the world, and international leaders and media have seen the reporting of net zero ahead of this – our commitment to net zero – and seen … that it’s based on the same policy we already have,” Ms Ison said.

“So I think there's a bit of a mixed response to Morrison there, particularly with some of the elements regarding the French president and the stoush there.

“Maybe I’m setting the bar too low … I’m just glad he’s there. We didn’t think he was going to be for a long time.”
