Laws to prevent Theranos style fraud are ‘viewed seriously’ in Australia

The University of Melbourne’s Professor Ian Ramsay says laws concerning those associated with companies making false or misleading claims when raising funds are “viewed seriously here”.

“For many, many years our corporate laws have been concerned, to a very high degree, with ensuring the accuracy or truthfulness of statements that are made by those associated with companies,” Professor Ramsay told Sky News host Ross Greenwood.

“Because we do not want potential investors misled."
