Extradition of Huawei executive behind Australia’s ‘sour’ relationship with China

over 2 years in news

Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says Australia's involvement in the extradition of a top Huawei executive is the reason behind Australia’s souring relationship with China.

Meng Wanzhou, the chief financial officer of the Chinese telecommunications giant which oversaw its operations in Australia, has been in Canadian custody ever since she was arrested in 2018.

“A part of this and then being rejected for 5G here is one of the reasons why our relationship with China has really turned sour over the past three years," Mr Greenwood told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
