Nearly 70 per cent of adults in Ireland have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, according to the Health Service Executive (HSE) chief executive Paul Reid.
In a tweet on Sunday morning, Mr Reid said more than 5.5 million vaccines had been administered in the State, with 83 per cent of adults now partially vaccinated and more than 68 per cent fully vaccinated.
“As hospitality, society & the economy opens further, let’s all embrace it safely and make it work,” said Mr Reid.
The number of people with coronavirus in Irish hospitals is rising, he said, with 123 Covid-19 patients now hospitalised.
The number of people in intensive care units (ICU) was 21, said Mr Reid.
On Saturday afternoon, a further 1,345 cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the State, with the Department of Health then confirming 105 people in hospital. The number in ICU then was reported as 21.
Under the draft guidelines published late on Friday night, anyone who is fully vaccinated will be able dine indoors accompanied by their unvaccinated children. Restaurants and pubs can reopen indoors from next Monday, July 26th.
Final regulations are expected to be signed off on Sunday, according to a statement from Fáilte Ireland, but draft operational guidelines for the sector were published late on Friday.
