Labor ‘caught up in 19th century logic’ in approach to coal

Labor is “completely caught up in 19th century logic” in their approach to fossil fuels, says Sky News Host Gary Hardgrave.

The former Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs said the Coalition government’s “unofficial, cabinet work” in exploring nuclear energy is “starting to expose Labor’s complete dead hand”.

“Labor are completely caught up in 19th-century logic, they’re still not sure about what they want to do about coal,” he said.

“I think the government now is starting to expose Labor’s complete dead hand on all of this, they just don’t know what they’re doing.”

Mr Hardgrave said Barnaby Joyce’s election as the leader of the National Party is an opportunity for the federal government to define its net-zero target.

“I think it’s an opportunity for the Government to rejig, refocus, and reword what this whole net-zero thing means,” he continued.

“I’m 100 per cent on the view that we don’t really know the detail of it.”
