Queensland government’s ‘inhumane’ behaviour will be Palaszczuk’s ‘legacy’

The Queensland government has consistently behaved “irrationally and inhumanely” throughout the pandemic and that will be Annastacia Palaszczuk’s “legacy,” says Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“Queensland does not have the deaths, destruction and repeated lockdowns that the Victorian government has notched up but the Annastacia Palaszczuk government has consistently behaved irrationally and inhumanely throughout the pandemic,” Ms Panahi said.

“We've seen the absurdity of Queensland banning Anzac Day flyovers in the name of COVID safety and the indecency of refusing medical care for desperately ill or injured Australians due to border closures.

“What sort of government forces people suffering from severe burns to travel much further than necessary to receive care in an NSW hospital when a Queensland hospital was closer.

“What sort of government compromises the medical care of a child that has undergone a double-lung transplant with its draconian border closures.

“That will be Annastacia Palaszczuk's legacy.”

Ms Panahi also called out the Queensland government's “callousness and double standards”.

“We've seen Hollywood stars and footballers receive special treatment in the Sunshine state but fully vaccinated parents of a newborn were kept away from their premature baby due to COVID restrictions, and a fully vaccinated man is prevented from saying goodbye to his dying father,” she said.

“What sort of society have we become when that inhumanity is deemed acceptable.”
