‘Most fruitful’ interactions between leaders at G7 will be non scripted

US Studies Centre’s James Brown says the “non-scripted interactions” between leaders at summits are where the “most fruitful progression of ideas” occurs.

His comments come ahead of Scott Morrison’s trip to Cornwall for the G7 summit.

“I think it’s critical that we’re doing this face to face,” Mr Brown told Sky News.

“It’s those pull aside conversations, the marginal remarks, the non-scripted interactions between leaders where you can actually get the most fruitful progression of ideas.

“That’s very hard to do over Zoom where you’re in a formal setting.”
