United States Republicans have chosen Trump loyalist Elise Stefanik to replace ousted House leader Liz Cheney.

Ms Stefanik moved quickly to ensure her place as House Republican conference chair after her predecessor was removed from the role last week.

Ms Cheney lost her job over her criticism of former President Donald Trump.
