A 3,000-year-old city that had been buried under the sands of Luxor was discovered, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities reported on April 8. The city, dubbed the Rise of Aten, was used by Tutankhamun, and is the “largest city ever found in Egypt,” the ministry said. Betsy Brian, a professor of Egyptology at John Hopkins University, said: “The discovery of this lost city is the second most important archeological discovery since the tomb of Tutankhamun,” according to the ministry.
