New South Wales Deputy Premier John Barilaro says vaccinations are the “final opportunity for us to get on top of COVID” as Premier Gladys Berejiklian announces a mass vaccination hub in Homebush.

“It’s clear that the feds are struggling to get the rollout right and getting the vaccinations out right and it’s important we get this right and therefore the state government is prepared to step up,” he told Sky News.

Mr Balilaro said the announcement this morning from the premier and the minister of health showed “we’re prepared to roll up our sleeves and get involved in setting up a brand new vaccination hub in Sydney, a major hub where we can administer 60,000 vaccines.”

The deputy premier told Sky News the 60,000 vaccines would be split into “30,000 for Sydney and 30,000 for the regions” and said vaccination is the way to get back to some normality.

“The vaccine is now the final frontier or the final opportunity for us to get on top of COVID so we can get back to a level of normal.”
