FIFTEEN members of the Boys and Girls Club of TT recently participated in a special children’s clinic hosted by the Beach Soccer Association of TT (BSATT).
On March 20, at the Beach Soccer Training Facility located on the outskirts of the Home of Football in Couva, 15 children between the ages of 14-19 years benefitted from a two-hour session learning the fundamental skills and techniques of the sport.
They were guided by recently appointed national beach soccer coach Ramiro Amarelle and assistant coach/sports psychologist, Maria Gordo Perdiguero.
Amarelle provided tips and tricks on the technical aspect of the game such as scooping the ball, shooting drills, volleys and acrobatic bicycle kicks, defensive transitioning, body positioning and set plays.
“The session was a great initiative to help the kids build confidence, develop positive attitudes and learn the basic skills of beach soccer through fun and enriching activities,” said Amarelle, a former Spain and Barcelona beach soccer player.
In alignment with the TT Football Association and BSATT’s mandate to increase sport participation, the clinic was organised to ensure that children are exposed to the sport of beach soccer fun and practical learning environment.
It served as a platform to develop, educate and encourage participation as well as promote the sport locally across clubs and communities.
