Young No covid19 outbreak in police Central Division

about 3 years in TT News day

NATIONAL Security Minister Stuart Young has said most of the staff members of the police's Central Division who are currently in quarantine are there as a precautionary measure.
He said only three officers have tested positive for covid19.
Young was responding to questions during Parliament on Friday afternoon.
On Wednesday night, Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh hosted a police town meeting in Freeport. It was there he "revealed" that 92 officers of the Central Division were in quarantine owing to the covid19 virus.
But Young said those figures are inaccurate.
"As the country is aware, the way that Ministry of Health personnel and experts have been dealing with covid19 is that once a person tests positive, there is a contact-tracing exercise that takes place. Primary contacts, secondary contacts and even tertiary contacts, which are the most distant, are immediately sent on quarantine as a precautionary measure, and that is exactly the protocol that was followed in tthe current matter."
He said there are 87 officers are in quarantine, three of whom tested positive, two of whom are primary contacts and the rest secondary contacts.
These officers, in addition to other police staff members, bring the number of Central Division staff in quarantine to 128.
He said he is certain the division has sufficient manpower to continue in their absence.
