One dead, one wounded in Champ Fleurs shooting

Police are investigating a shooting in Champ Fleurs on Wednesday night that led to the death of one man and the wounding of another.
Police said Devanand Ramrattan, 36, was liming with a friend at around 11.05 pm at Upper Mendez Drive, Champ Fleurs, when a man wearing a mask walked into the yard and shot both of them several times before running away.
Ramrattan tried to run away but collapsed near a door on the other side of the house.
Neighbours heard the gunshots and called an ambulance, which took the wounded man to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the left leg.
Northern Division police went to the house, where they found Ramrattan's body. They also found eight spent shells and bloodstains.
Homicide investigators are continuing enquiries.
