Arima man dies after beating
over 3 years in TT News day
A 64-year-old man has died after being beaten at his Arima home early on New Year's Day.
Police said members of the Northern Division Emergency Response Patrol were on patrol on Getwell Avenue Extension, Pinto Road, at around 12.30 am when they saw Michael Simon unconscious in a yard.
Investigators said Simon regained consciousness for a short while and told officers relatives had attacked and beaten him.
Police took him to the Arima Hospital. He was transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex early on January 2 but died at 6.40 am.
Investigators said Simon's left leg was broken in two places and he was awaiting surgery up until the time of his death.
Homicide Region II investigators are continuing enquiries.
