More Than 2,000 Attend New Year’s Eve Concert by Christian Activist as COVID Surge Continues

over 3 years in news

An estimated 2,500 people packed into a church parking lot for a New Year’s Eve concert arranged by Christian activist and musician Sean Feucht. This footage, by Ryan Chen, shows the crowd standing shoulder to shoulder as they count down to midnight outside the Higher Vision Church in Valencia. The Los Angeles Times reported the gathering was in defiance of state health orders, but the religious group was exempt from those orders, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Captain Eric Buschow. The concert was held as California continued to experience a surge in coronavirus cases. There were over 806,000 confirmed cases in Los Angeles County by January 3, the highest number of any county in the US, according to Johns Hopkins University. Credit: Ryan Chen via Storyful
