Hundreds of protesters gathered in downtown Columbus, Ohio, on Friday, December 11, in response to the death of Casey Goodson Jr, who was fatally shot by a Franklin County sheriff’s deputy on December 4. This footage shows protesters outside the Franklin County court buildings. According to news reports, police say Goodson waved a gun at sheriff’s deputy Jason Meade as he drove by Meade’s police car. He then refused to drop the gun when confronted by Deputy Meade outside his home, police said. Goodson’s family, however, have said he was holding a sandwich when he was shot. According to a statement released by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday, an autopsy found the cause of death to be homicide, with the preliminary cause as multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. A second protest was planned for noon on Saturday at the Ohio Statehouse, according to local reports. Credit: Jonathan Soupforthefamily via Storyful
