National death toll rises to 80 after 10th Tasmanian fatality

The national death toll has risen to 80 after Tasmania recorded its 10th coronavirus fatality.

A 90-year-old man passed away yesterday at the Mersey Community Hospital in the state's north-west. Tasmania has also recorded two new cases overnight.

Meanwhile, New South Wales has recorded a spike of 12 new infections, four of which were recorded at the Newmarch House aged care facility in western Sydney.

There has been one confirmed case in the ACT and WA in the last 24 hours, two new cases in Queensland and three discovered in Victoria.

No new cases have been recorded in South Australia over the past three days.
