Desperadoes to host outdoor exhibition

Desperadoes Elders Organisation will launch its first-ever Desperadoes Steel Orchestra outdoor exhibition under the theme From Laventille With Love: History, Celebration, Achievement.
The exhibition which opens on April 12 is subtitled Desperadoes is Laventille...Laventille is Desperadoes. It is being held under the patronage of President Paula-Mae Weekes.
It will include artefacts and inventions created by the late Rudolph Charles –a legend, pioneer, technician and leader of the band; a pictorial exhibition of Desperadoes and its iconic musicians from its formative years in Laventille; band memorabilia; and the launch of Iron Love: A Book of Desperadoes Steel Orchestra, written by author, designer and carnival bandleader Patrick Roberts, said a media release.
Among those invited to attend the formal opening are the Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, Port of Spain South MP Keith Scotland, Laventille East MP Adrian Leonce, Laventille West MP Fitzgerald Hinds, Tourism, Culture and the Arts Minister Randall Mitchell, Port of Spain Mayor Joel Martinez and Pan Trinbago Inc President Beverly Ramsey-Moore.
The exhibition will open to the public daily from April 13-28, 12 pm-8 pm at the Desperadoes' interim panyard, Victoria Avenue, Port-of-Spain.
