Permaul, Cornwall shine in West Indies warm up

VEERASAMMY Permaul and Rahkeem Cornwall were the standout performers on the third day of the four-day practice match between the West Indies Chase XI and the West Indies Brathwaite XI at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua, on Wednesday.
The Brathwaite XI completed a four-wicket win.
Resuming on 242/5 the Brathwaite XI were dismissed for 346 to earn a 20-run lead on first innings. Cornwall struck 63 off 51 balls and the pair of Jomel Warrican (3/72) and Nial Smith (3/91) both took three wickets.
Batting a second time the Chase XI could only post a modest 113 all out with left-arm spinner Permaul taking 4/21. John Campbell, who struck a century in the first innings, cracked 55 for the Chase XI.
The Brathwaite XI struggled in the second innings, but completed the win by scoring 95/6. Kieran Powell made 29 and the trio of Raymon Reifer (2/15), Imran Khan (2/16) and Jermaine Blackwood (2/17) took wickets.
West Indies are preparing for a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which bowls off on March 21 in Antigua.
